Its history |
|
Agroittica
Lombarda, a leading company in italian aquaculture,
is the producer of the exquisite Calvisius, Original Caviar
Malossol.
It was founded in the mid-1970s and concentrated on eel breeding
which was made possible thanks to the exploitation of the heat
coming from a near-by steel-plant.
However it was during the early 1980s that Agroittica
Lombarda achieved its first aim by means of a innovative
project: the rearing of the White Sturgeon, an extremely valuable
warm water fish.
Agroittica
in collaboration with Davis University in California, began
importing White Sturgeon larvae from the USA focussing on the
breeding of this species. In 1996, after having reached a high
level of specialization in the reproduction of the species,
it stopped sturgeon larvae importation from the USA. Since then
the company has annually reproduced a great number of fries
according to its development programmes. |

Agroittica
is at present the only professional company in Europe rearing
White Sturgeon thus leading the world market in farmed caviar
production.
Agroittica
Lombarda is also one of the foremost national companies
as regards the production of smoked fish specialties. In fact
it purchases salmon, swordfish, trout and tuna as raw material
so that it can be smoked and packed ready for modern distribution
and high quality catering. |

The
quality
 |
The
quality it has attained in every single detail, thanks to
its long experience in the aquaculture field and its use of
technology and innovations, is certainly the hallmark of Agroittica
Lombarda.
The most important aspect of its production is quality control
of every batch reached thanks to the absolute pureness of
the water (taken from underground sources and therefore unpolluted),
the choice of highly specialized fish feed free from GM substances
and meat meals, careful selection of the reproduction stock
in order to improve the species and meticulous sanitary checks
on the finished products.

 |
Indeed
the perfect combination of technological innovations and ancient
knowledge of the craft has met the favour of high quality
catering and modern distribution also thanks to service, efficiency
and the capacity to flexibly meet market requirements.
